The art of the possible

The family room is adjacent to the kitchen because these two areas of the home are the most used. Concrete accents and walls are a nod to modern design. It is very expensive to pour a concrete ceiling and any design is always bound by a budget. So what we opted to do was have a high definition mural printed in the pattern of concrete poured in a form. Every single person that sees this including the inspector thought it was actual concrete and were extremely surprised by the fact that it was pretty much wallpaper. We gained the design aspect we wanted to achieve at a fraction of the cost.

Design Intentionality

This is the dining area. If you notice the floor plan is extremely open but we still needed to define certain spaces throughout the house. The giant walnut panelled drop ceiling is suited directly in the centre of the dining area to give a clear indication this is where the dining table sits.

Stairway to heaven

We wanted to have an incredibly open feel to the house. So we opted for floating treads for the stairs on a single monotube stringer and glass railing, so it does not hinder the view. You will realize as you walk in from the front entrance of the house you are greeted by two giant concrete pillars that define the hallway space. Typically people always expect a welcome hallway right after the entrance to guide them throughout the house. We wanted to accomplish the same feeling without having any physical wall barriers to maintain the open and airy lay out of the home.

The heart of it all.

To keep the bedroom in line with the rest of the modern design, we opted for a minimalistic design with a few accents to still keep it warm and cozy. In upscale homes, beds commonly use suede or leather upholstered headboards. Playing on that idea we opted to use the back wall clad in a 3D clay tiles exhibiting the texture of suede. To add warmth to the room we used European Acacia hardwood on the ceilings with a minimalist yet chic chandelier. As an added feature we made a small walkout balcony that oversees the pool and cabana area.

Luxury spa comes home.

The master bathroom is truly a masterpiece, the design utilized symmetry to frame the bathtub in the middle, right beneath the window for an experience allowing you to bask in the natural light when relaxing in the tub. To highlight the tub and the shower we decided to build a pedestal upon which the tub sits on, the pedestal additionally serves to divide the bathroom symmetrically. We designed a pocket in the ceiling to conceal a motorized blackout blind to give you maximum privacy when required.
